KDH Fire Dept. responds to structure fire

On June 1, 2025, at 3:05 p.m., the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of West Arch Street.

The fire originated on the front deck of the home and spread inside, causing significant fire and water damage. The ground floor also sustained smoke and water damage. Firefighters worked to contain the fire to the second floor.

All occupants safely evacuated the home. One Kill Devil Hills firefighter was injured and transported to Outer Banks Hospital for treatment.

Fire crews from Colington and Kitty Hawk assisted in the operation. The Kill Devil Hills Police Department and Dare County EMS were also on scene to provide support.
