ANSONIA, Conn. — A man who ran for Ansonia mayor in 2023 has been arrested on fraud charges according to police.
On Wednesday, Harry Danley, 55, of Ansonia, was charged with Larceny First Degree, he was released on a $35,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
Police said the conservator for an 85-year-old Ansonia resident reported the possible theft in March of 2025. Investigators found numerous checks written to Danley dating back to 2020 totaling over $20,000 and said there appeared to be no legitimate reason for the checks.
Danley ran as an unaffiliated candidate for mayor in 2023.
