COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The eastbound lanes of Highway 24 Frontage Road will close to traffic on Monday, according to the City of Colorado Springs.

City officials say the closure will be from northbound 8th Street to the Highway 24 intersection. Drivers will be detoured to turn right from 8th Street to Highway 24.

The sidewalk on the east side of the 8th Street bridge and the Midland Trail bridge over the creek will also close on Monday. City officials said pedestrians and trail users should detour to the west side of 8th Street to avoid the construction.

According to city officials, the closures are to prepare the construction site and place equipment to remove the Midland Trail bridge over Fountain Creek, which is scheduled for the night of June 12.
