DENVER (KDVR) — If Interstate 70 traffic felt worse and lift lines seemed longer this winter, that may be because it was one of the busiest ski seasons in history.
Preliminary data from the National Ski Areas Association, a trade association for ski area owners and operators, recorded the 2024-2025 ski season as the second busiest on record in the United States, totaling 61.5 million visits marked by lift tickets and passes scanned at ski areas.
While it was a busy year for ski areas nationwide, it was especially busy in the Rocky Mountain Region, which makes up Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico.
