PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Oregon is experiencing a sharp rise in unemployment claims, with last week’s filings up more than 9% compared to the previous week and nearly 34% higher than the same week in 2024, according to a new WalletHub report.
The state ranks eighth overall in WalletHub’s updated list of states where unemployment claims are increasing the most. Oregon had the fourth-largest year-over-year increase in claims and ranked 12th for week-over-week increases.
Despite the recent spike, Oregon ranks 37th in cumulative unemployment claims for 2025 compared to the same period last year. However, the state also ranks sixth in the number of claims per 100,000 people in the labor force.
