ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -The Saint Louis Zoo welcomes a new litter of 5 cheetah cubs to its community.
The litter was born at the Saint Louis Zoo River’s Edge Cheetah Breeding Center on May 5. It marks the first successful cheetah births at the zoo in more than seven years.
Parents Cora, age 4, and Vader, age 8, are doing well and bonding with their cubs in a private maternity den. The cubs will be able to be seen by the public in a few months when they are old enough to naturally leave the den.
The zoo is also waiting to name the cubs until the zoo’s veterinary care team can go in and do their first well baby check. Until then, they are closely monitoring them via camera while mom develops into an attentive mom with her cubs.
