A man shot himself in the leg after his firearm accidentally discharged in the parking lot of Kings Dominion, according to Hanover County officials.

The sheriff's office says that at around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, the man was holstering a firearm when it went off and struck him in the calf. Witnesses confirm that the shooting was accidental.

Hanover Fire and EMS responded to the scene at 16000 Theme Park Way and took the man to a local hospital. Police say that his injuries are non-life threatening.
