A Kentucky man has been named the next Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police.

Michael Sullivan has over 30 years in law enforcement, with nearly 25 of those in Louisville. He joined the force in 1995 and ascended through the ranks to become Deputy Chief. From there he was selected to become a Deputy Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department. He spent three years there before stepping into the role of Interim Chief of the Phoenix Police Department.

Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell issued a congratulatory statement applauding Sullivan's selection as the new U.S. Capitol Police Chief.
