OCALA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was found guilty Wednesday of the 2022 murder of a toddler who had her spine 'completely severed' while in his care.
On May 3, 2022, staff at AdventHealth Waterman Hospital in Tavares reported a 2-year-old girl being rushed into the ER in critical condition. They attempted to revive her, but she succumbed to her injuries.
According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Travis Ray Thompson, 27, was responsible for watching the child that day while her mother was at work.
Detectives said that Thompson was angry with the girl's mother due to a recent break-up and physically abused the toddler, resulting in her spine being 'completely severed.'
