NOKESVILLE, Va. — A woman is dead days after a tragic accident in Virginia. A 20-year-old woman from Sterling died in the hospital on Wednesday.

According to investigators, officers in Prince William County responded to a report of a crash on May 31 just after 9 p.m. When officers got to the 11100 block of Kettle Run Road, they learned what had happened.

The investigation revealed that the woman, who has not been identified by police, was sitting on the back of a 1992 Mazda Miata. A 20-year-old man was driving the Miata down a private gravel driveway with the woman on the back when he accelerated, causing the woman to fall off the car and strike her head on the ground.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She died four days later.
