JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As you prepare your hurricane supply kit, leaders with JEA are also getting ready for when a storm hits.
For the past three days, JEA has been conducting a hurricane simulation out of its emergency operations center.
They're practicing how they will communicate with customers and respond to outages across the city during a hurricane, and compared to the years past, this year's scenario is much more intense.
The hypothetical storm is a category three with nearly two feet of rain. It may be more intense than what typically hits the First Coast, but after seeing what happened to the Gulf Coast during Hurricane Milton last year, the scenario puts JEA in a similar situation to see what areas in Jacksonville will be impacted the most.
