PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The first wave of the season will arrive this weekend with high temperatures topping out in the lower to mid-90s.

“We are going to heat up about 18 to 25 degrees above average for this time of year,” said Storm Tracker 2 Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby.

Warmer air from the desert southwest will arrive in the lower levels of the atmosphere, pushing the temperature into rare territory.

Daily record highs going back to the 1940s and 1950s are in jeopardy of being broken.

Shelby is calling for daily highs on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to reach 90 degrees or above.
