PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Officers are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Gainesville early Thursday, police said.
Just minutes before 2 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of Lee Highway and Virginia Oaks Drive to investigate a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.
There, officers learned that someone was driving north on Lee Highway when they hit a person, who was trying to cross the highway, with their vehicle, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
The pedestrian died at the scene. As of Thursday afternoon, investigators have not yet identified them.
PWCPD noted that the driver involved in the crash did not wait for officers to arrive.
