PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Providence man who admitted he tried to burn down a predominantly black church in the town has been sentenced Thursday, according to acting United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island Sara Miron Bloom.

Kevin Colantonio, 36, was sentenced to over six years in federal prison Thursday after his February conviction on charges of malicious damage by means of fire, obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs and two counts of assault on a federal officer.

He will then serve three years of supervised release.

Colantonio was arrested in February of 2024 after several fires were set at the Shiloh Gospel Temple in North Providence.
