ANSONIA, Conn. — A New Haven woman has been charged with assault after police said she grabbed a 3-year-old by the arm causing serious injuries.
On Wednesday, Mary Durso-Smith, 32, of New Haven was arrested for an incident at Mead School on March 25, where a 3-year-old student was injured while attending school, police said.
Officials said the student suffered an arm injury that required surgical intervention. Police determined there was video of the incident, which led the investigating officer to determine the incident was not accidental. Police said the video will not be released at this time.
Durso-Smith was charged with Risk of Injury and Assault Second Degree, she was released on a $50,000 bond and will be arraigned at Derby Court on Thursday.
