The Ishbia family may soon be expanding its professional sports ownership.

The Chicago White Sox announced Thursday that longtime owner Jerry Reinsdorf has reached a long-term investment agreement that establishes a framework for Justin Ishbia to obtain a future controlling interest in the MLB club, but not before 2029.

As part of the agreement, Ishbia, the brother of Suns’ owner Mat Ishbia, will make capital infusions into the White Sox as a limited partner in 2025 and 2026 that will be used to pay down existing debt and support ongoing team operations.

The Ishbia family is from Michigan and both brothers attended Michigan State University. Justin Ishbia is the founder and managing partner of Chicago-based Shore Capital Partners. He is part owner of the NBA’s Suns and WNBA’s Mercery.
