RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond announced that the rumors about a potential boil water advisory for the area are "unfounded" just after noon on Thursday, June 5.

This comes a week after the boil water advisory was officially lifted at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29. A boil water advisory was also issued for Louisa County on June 1, but it has since lifted.

"Information travels fast, especially misinformation," the city said. "We understand the need to be in the know and our priority is to provide you with accurate updates regarding water services."

According to the city, the city's water treatment plant did experience "brief interruptions in its SCADA system" with one of its pump stations and tanks.
