At a town hall hosted by Americans for Prosperity-Texas on Friday evening, U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran (R-Tyler) called for making the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, describing it as a critical step to protect jobs and ensure long-term economic stability.
Moran, who represents the 1st Congressional District of Texas, said families could see a 24% tax increase next year if provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expire.
“Most folks in D.C. forget — it’s your money,” he said to the crowd. “It’s not the government’s money.”
Speaking at Tyler Junior College’s Jean Browne Theater, Moran linked the issue to the broader One Big Beautiful Bill Act — a sweeping 1,100-page legislative package narrowly passed by the U.S. House in May along party lines.
