LANSING, Mich. — Firearm safety could become a new elective for students.
Meant to encourage safe outdoor recreation and uphold Michigan's hunting traditions in addition to generally promoting firearm safety, the House of Representatives passed House Bill (HB) 4285 Wednesday that would allow schools to introduce firearm safety elective courses that could act as part of a student's physical education or extracurricular options for learning.
