CHICAGO — Closing arguments begin Thursday in the murder trial of a man accused of stabbing an 11-year-old boy to death in front of his pregnant mother.

The murder trial of Crosetti Brand is picking back up after the judge allowed attorneys to review evidence and prepare for closing arguments the past two days.

After weeks of testimony from witnesses, Brand took the stand on Monday testifying in his own defense.

The 39-year-old is accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend, Lateria Smith, who was four-months pregnant at the time. Brand is also accused of stabbing Smith's 11-year-old son, Jayden Perkins, to death.

During his testimony, Brand told the court he and Smith got into an agrument that turned physical when Smith allegedly grabbed two knives. Brand claims that while Perkins tried to
