MASON COUNTY — Two 16-year-old girls from Ludington, Michigan, were involved in an off-road vehicle crash on Wednesday evening in Logan Township, Mason County.

According to a June 5 news release from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred south of Barothy Road at 7:37 p.m., with emergency crews responding to the scene.

One of the girls was critically injured and was airlifted to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The Mason County Crash Reconstruction team conducted a preliminary investigation, which revealed that a 2017 Honda Rancher 420, operated by the critically injured girl, left a trail and rolled over, pinning her underneath.

The case is currently under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
