In honor of National Doughnut Day on Friday, LaMar's Donuts is feeling generous.

LaMar's, which is headquartered in Denver, is offering free doughnuts at all of its locations across five states, including its one in Lincoln at 4822 Pioneers Blvd.

Its hours Friday are 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.

National Donut Day originated in 1917 when World War I soldiers were served donuts by Salvation Army volunteers, known as the "Donut Lassies." The tradition is celebrated across the United States every year on the first Friday in June.

"It's a feel-good celebration rooted in history and giving," said Temi Osifodunrin, LaMar's Donuts director of marketing and advertising, in a news release.
