TOLEDO, Ohio — Several firefighters went to the hospital as a precaution following a hazardous material situation in west Toledo Thursday.
Toledo Fire and Rescue were first called to the Westland Garden Apartment complex on a hazmat call around 11 a.m.
A TFRD spokesperson told WTOL 11 the situation led to four firefighters being taken to the hospital as a precaution. The nature or severity of potential injuries was not described by TFRD.
The situation was caused by cleaning chemicals that were unintentionally mixed, a TFRD spokesperson said. The mixture resulted in respiratory problems.
TFRD said that the situation was contained and turned over to the city of Toledo's Environmental Services and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
