GILBERT, Ariz. — A new street sign outside Perry High School now reads “Jalen Williams Way,” replacing “Brock Purdy Way” as the school celebrates another former Puma reaching the pinnacle of professional sports.
Jalen Williams, a 2019 Perry graduate and current starting guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, will play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers. The street renaming is part of a Perry High tradition honoring alumni who reach the highest level in their sport, previously recognizing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy when he led his team to the Super Bowl.
“Jalen is on my Mount Rushmore of players,” said Perry head coach Sam Duane, who has coached high school basketball for 28 years, including the last nine at Perry. “Not just for his talent
