Authorities identify woman whose body was found in Sidney ditch

SIDNEY, Neb. (KNOP) - An investigation is underway in Sidney after law enforcement say a woman’s body was found in a ditch Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Mattea Scheuerman of Greensburg, Indiana.

According to Cheyenne County Attorney Amber Horn, the Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a body floating in water at 8:03 p.m. near 7th Avenue and Maple Street.

The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office and the Sidney Police Department responded to the scene and found Scheuerman’s body in the drainage ditch next to a culvert.

The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department also assisted with the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled.
