RALEIGH, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Gov. Josh Stein is willing to support marijuana legalization, as long as it will lead to better control of what can be sold in the Tar Heel state.

Stein this week announced the formation of the Advisory Council on Cannabis, a group that will be tasked with determining best practices to regulate the sale of cannabis products. Stein argues that there are too many products that contain unregulated levels of THC.

“I want to make sure that we bring this into a regulated system where people know what it is they’re buying," Stein told WRAL.

Currently, cannabis that has some small chemical differences from full marijuana can be sold legally, but there are not many rules around those products specifically.
