WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus held a press conference Thursday to condemn the actions of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and to push for more oversight.
The Trump administration is increasing ICE operations and instituted a travel ban on Wednesday.
“The travel ban, I mean, he tried that before in his first term. It was one of the first actions, you may remember that he took, and we stood up against it and we’re going to stand up against it again. Many would like us to be silent, many would like us to hide under a rock, we will not,” said Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.).
The caucus has pledged to continue oversight over ICE facilities and ensure that due process is followed for immigrants.
