STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - An active death investigation is underway after authorities recovered a man's body from Sturgeon Bay on Thursday morning.

Around 11:20 a.m. on June 5, officers got a 911 call reporting that someone had found a body in the waters of Sturgeon Bay between the Michigan Street Bridge and the Door County Maritime Museum.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department, along with the Door County EMS and Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead. The Brown County Medical Examiner's Office was notified and responded to the scene.

Officers say that an active death investigation is underway, and based on the initial investigation, the public is not in any danger.
