TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers in Tampa should prepare for a significant road closure beginning Monday, June 9, as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will close Nebraska Avenue between Palm Avenue and Columbus Drive for approximately seven days, weather permitting. The closure is set to begin at 12:01 AM on Monday.

This temporary closure is crucial for crews to perform necessary drainage work across Nebraska Avenue, a vital component of the ongoing Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project. The overarching project is slated for completion in 2027.

Motorists will encounter detours depending on their direction of travel:

Northbound Nebraska Avenue Detour: Drivers will be directed to turn right onto Palm Avenue, then left onto Nuccio Parkway.
