BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Few product launches draw big crowds and big lines anymore, but the global launch of Nintendo's Switch 2 drew the crowds at Bakersfield stores.

Hundreds of people were waiting to collect their new Switch 2 handheld console outside the Best Buy store on Rosedale Highway. Customers were collecting pre-orders and some were trying to purchase one if there was any in stock at locations.

Several social media videos showed people waiting in line for hours.

The packed lines were replicated at other stores in Bakersfield including GameStop and Walmart.

The Switch 2 console is priced at $449.
