WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Like most of the Watertown City Council candidates, Doug Osborne is worried about the loss of millions of dollars of hydro power revenue when the city’s contract with National Grid runs out in 2030.
The Jefferson County probation officer is critical of past spending by the city, including the golf course purchase and the rehab of Flynn pool.
When it comes to the hydro power contract, Osborne says it’s time to open a dialogue with National Grid.
“I think right now we actually need to speak with National Grid prior to the contract ending to see if we could build a framework of what our next steps would be, whether it’s selling some of our excess which would entail having communication with National Grid to figure that out and how it would work,” he said.
