KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Dan Roark, who was an officer with the Knoxville Police Department until late 2023, has been sentenced in a federal case for possessing child sexual abuse material.
The case first came to light in November last year, when court documents revealed that Officer Roark had asked a woman in Virginia who he was dating, repeatedly, for pictures and videos of her then five-year-old daughter.

Throughout the case, the investigator, Cortney Dugger, said he had found more than 20,000 text messages between Roark and the woman. Roark’s plea agreement contained examples of the texts, showing him asking for specific pictures and videos of the girl in exchange for money.
