PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Peoria man was found guilty in connection with a 2023 armed robbery on Thursday.
Drakar K. Munoz, 28, was found guilty of armed robbery and aggravated battery after a two-day trial in Peoria County Circuit Court, said Anna Perales, a spokeswoman with the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office.
The charges are in connection with an Aug. 15, 2023, incident that occurred at the Parkwood Commons Apartment Complex. Security footage played at trial showed Munoz shot a man and then stole his cross-body bag. The victim suffered two gunshot wounds to the stomach.
The jury took seven minutes to convict Munoz. He is expected to be sentenced on July 23 when he faces at least 21 years and possibly up to 55 years in prison.
That's more than a normal count of armed robbery.
