BALDWIN, Mich. (WOOD) — After just five months on the job, the chief law enforcement officer in Lake County has resigned.

Prosecutor Gregory Mick, elected in November with about 2,200 votes, resigned Thursday, according to a spokesman for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan. Lake County Sheriff Richard Martin said a medical leave preceded Mick’s resignation.

Martin, whose department works closely with the prosecutor’s office, says he does not foresee any hiccups for the Lake County law enforcement community.

"Everything is working business as usual," Martin said Thursday afternoon. "We’ll carry on until a replacement can be assigned."

The Michigan Office of Attorney General covers counties where there is no elected prosecutor, PAAM spokesman John Perry wrote in an email.
