PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The City of Portland is set to vote this afternoon on its portion of a $2 million civil rights lawsuit settlement, which includes some land back to 26 Black Portland residents displaced starting in the late 50s by racially biased applications of eminent domain laws.
The city's portion of the settlement is $1 million. On June 18, Prosper Portland, the city's economic branch, is set to OK the other $1 million along with two lots of land back in the neighborhood where the group of residents and/or their families were displaced.
