About 100 people cheered outside of the Chelmsford Immigration Court Thursday afternoon after an immigration judge granted bond to an 18-year-old Milford teen arrested and detained by federal immigration officials over the weekend.
Marcelo Gomes Da Silva, who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on May 31, was ordered on June 5 by Immigration Judge Jenny Beverly to be released on bond. The judge set the bond at $2,000.
Chants of “Free Marcelo!” broke out outside of the courthouse after the judge’s ruling. Several Milford High School students went to Chelmsford to support their classmate, wearing white shirts written with the words “Free Marcelo.”
“He’s going to be set free,” said Milford High sophomore Fiona Lentini. “There are going to be so many people who want
