LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A search at Lake Mead on Wednesday ended in the rescue of a man and his dog who had gone to the lake in search of another dog that had been reported lost, the National Park Service (NPS) said Thursday.
A 48-year-old hiker, who was not identified, was found in "a very remote area" of the park, according to officials.
The man took his dog on a search after reading online about a dog that went missing after a crash on May 28. When the man was reported overdue, a search was initiated involving NPS rangers, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Red Rock Search and Rescue.
