PULASKI, Va. (WSET) — A man has been arrested in Pulaski following a traffic stop on Thursday.

Around 10:30 a.m. on June 5, officers with the Pulaski Police Department witnessed a wanted man driving in the area of Bell Avenue.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and attempted to take Meril Isadore Brown, Jr. into custody, at which point he began trying to destroy a large quantity of narcotics and resisted arrest, according to the department.

Brown was taken into custody and, along with two officers, was treated for possible fentanyl exposure. He was taken to New River Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.

The department said charges are pending.
