WACO, Texas — A member of the Waco Police Department has achieved a prestigious honor, graduating from the FBI National Academy .
Waco PD has announced that Commander Melissa Thompson graduated from the 294th session of the National Academy on Thursday, June 5.
According to the department, the Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states and the District of Columbia, and included members of law enforcement agencies from 14 countries, six military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.
Waco PD said the National Academy is known for its "academic excellence" and offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. 56,180 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935, according to the Waco Police Department.
