ST. ANTHONY — As of Tuesday, the Fun Farm Bridge in Fremont County has been removed.
The bridge has stood since its construction in 1925, but now, 100 years later, it was time to go. The bridge has been a longtime recreation site in the county for swimming, boaters, and fishermen. The area has also been the site of numerous drownings over the years.
When asked why the bridge was being removed, Fremont County Road and Bridge Foreman Rowdy Rigby said the primary issue was the bridge’s age.
“(There is) too much liability, potential for lawsuits,” Rigby said.
Rigby added that a small replica bridge and an information board to honor the old bridge are being considered and will most likely be installed in the park and parking lot next to the bridge.
