ATLANTA — After sitting abandoned for about five decades, a building in downtown Atlanta is set to get new life.
Mayor Andre Dickens said the building off Alabama Street, constructed in 1947 and once home to a newspaper printing facility, has been abandoned since the 1970s.
On Thursday, City and County leaders said the new building, now to be called Folio House, will be a mixed-use building and bring more affordable housing through both phases of construction.
"A lot of residents are moving to this area. It's 100% occupied. So there's a high housing occupancy rate and a need for additional housing in this area," said Joel Reed with Gorman & Company, the people behind the build.
Reed said construction will happen in two phases, the first bringing 50 affordable housing units with it. Dic
