ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (WNDU) - The city of St. Joseph has made several changes to its downtown parking rules after receiving a lot of negative feedback in recent weeks from residents and business owners.
A special meeting was held Thursday afternoon at City Hall to address three issues related to parking. The public comment part of the meeting went on for about two hours because of how upset and passionate residents were about some of the recent changes .
In the end, it resulted in the following changes, which are effective immediately.
First off, city-owned lots are now free for St. Joseph residents. You will need to register your license with the city, so officials know you’re a resident when parking.
Secondly, the city commission voted to change the hours for paid parking enforcement.
