SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — You can find almost anything on Facebook's Marketplace these days. A man in Virginia used the app to purchase a house, which he plans to demolish. However, the transaction will help preserve its historical significance.
It was a busy day on Reedy Creek Drive in Sullivan County as Marty Judd helped Doug Hakey gently dismantle the old Droke-Starbuck house.
Judd said the house is found in historical books that claim it was built in 1795. Hakey bought it on Facebook's Marketplace.
The task was delicate. Each log was carefully labeled and dismantled piece by piece to be reassembled on Hakey's property in Amherst, Virginia.
"Well, they were still brown in color instead of gray where it sat here a few weeks," Hakey said. "They've started turning gray already. B
