JASPER COUNTY, SC. (WTOC) - Thursday, a long-time Jasper County Judge is being honored after decades of serving the community.

Judge Deborah Ann Malphrus is retiring after 35 years in the legal profession, with the last 14 years being a Family Court Judge.

Her portrait was unveiled in the Courtroom at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Judge Malphrus is a South Carolina Low Country native. Born in 1964, to the late Patricia Ann Lowther Malphrus and the late Joseph Nelson Malphrus, she is the youngest of three children.

Judge Malphrus’s earliest memories revolve around the legal and judicial system. Her childhood home was located across the street from the Jasper County Courthouse and adjacent to her father’s law office.
