LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The storied Louisville Gardens is about to begin a new chapter.

The 120-year-old building is going into the movie business with a $70 million renovation.

With filmmakers leaving Hollywood in droves, Kentucky passed tax incentives to draw them here and the jobs that come with them.

The plan now is for this cavernous arena to give them the place they need to put people to work shooting the next blockbuster movie, hit TV show, or commercials.

“When I’m in California, and we deal with a lot of the Major studios, a lot of the studios are asking me about Louisville, Kentucky,” said Tony Guanci, CEO of Sylmar Studios.

Local and state officials and developers spoke to reporters Thursday in the lobby of the Louisville Gardens.
