CROWN POINT — A Gary man was found not guilty of attempted arson and burglary during his re-trial for the offense this week.
The Indiana Court of Appeals overturned 32-year-old Anthony Cobb's first conviction in November after they determined police and prosecutors failed to share a video of the alleged offenses with Cobb. Cobb had been sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2023 after a jury found him guilty of the attempted arson and burglary charges.
Cobb's defense attorney John Cantrell said he was enthusiastic about the opportunity to retry the case because he has always believed in Cobb's innocence.
