GORDON, Texas — There’s a certain quiet still hanging over the town of Gordon . Damage from a tornado that ripped through more than two weeks ago still lingers.

“They’ve been through a lot these last couple of weeks,” said Gordon resident Lauren Jackson.

On Saturday, the Gordon Longhorns High School baseball team punched their ticket to Round Rock to play for the 1A UIL State Championship .

“Why be out here?" said Denise Dixon, standing outside waiting for the bus to come for the sendoff. "Because of the boys!"

Families, friends, and neighbors lined up Main Street for this sendoff , which is more than just a school tradition.

“Sometimes you can learn a lot from kids,” Head Coach Ligon West said. “We can learn something from them just by how resilient they are.”
