FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSAZ) - Kentucky is easing some of the pain at the pump.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Thursday that beginning on July 1, the state gas tax drop 1.4 cents per gallon.
Beshear says that is a 12 percent decrease over a two-year period, taking the tax from 30.1 cents to 26.4 cents.
“I know every penny counts, and that these savings can really add up,” Gov. Beshear said. “Whether you’re driving to school, work, heading to church, or headed out on a family trip, at least here in Kentucky your gas is going to cost a little bit less starting July 1.”
Gas taxes in Kentucky are deposited in the road fund and appropriated by the General Assembly for construction and maintenance of Kentucky’s roads.
