AUSTIN, Texas — Anyone who lost food as a result of the flooding or power outages caused by the storms in Austin last week may be able to get it replaced.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHS) has received federal approval to extend the deadline for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamp, recipients in Travis County to apply for replacement benefits for food lost or destroyed by last week's severe weather.

SNAP recipients in Travis County with food that was lost or destroyed due to the storm can apply for replacement benefits by June 30.

Eligible Travis County residents can request replacement food benefits by either:

Dialing 2-1-1 and selecting option 7, or

By downloading Form H1855, which is the Affidavit for Nonreceipt or Destroyed SNAP Benef
