MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A person was arrested for allegedly driving a vehicle while drunk after hitting a bicyclist near the UW-Madison campus on Wednesday, the Madison Police Department reported on Thursday.

MPD said officers responded around 9:50 p.m. to the area of University Avenue and East Campus Mall on reports of a vehicle and bike crash.

During the investigation, police said that the vehicle did not stop early enough at the intersection and hit the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

The driver faces a first offense OWI.
